That's nothing. In the inflight guide for Alaska there are a couple of
airfields along the panhandle that are gravel in box canyons. You land going
into the canyon and leave going out of the canyon. There are bold warnings
that read something like "The probability of a successful missed approach is
unlikely".
There was an Alaskan ANG C-130E that made a missed approach in one of
these. They missed the lip of the box canyon wall by about 20 feet. Nobody
survived.
