I'm a printed map person too. But I like my digital stuff. Garmin has
been upgrading their displays and they are almost usable now. Still
not so sure about the touch screens (gloves) and the overall size, but
the new units are much nicer. I'm not so hot on compasses here. The
declination is about 17 degrees here--depending on which part of town
you are in. Over to the east side of the state, it's 18 to 19 degrees
off. I do love GPS.

With our budget in shambles, I doubt I'll be buying any GPS this year,
but at least I have a good indication of what I might be getting next.
Around our local, I can dayhike with what I have. But before getting
too far off the beaten track, I should get a new unit.
