I LIVE here now and there is still not enough time. It's almost a year
and I haven't even scratched the surface of our NEIGHBORHOOD. It's
mind-boggling how photo-rich it is here.

I would recommend having a very loose schedule with uncommitted days
because the weather is the major variable. Consider Denali, for
example. It can be clouded in for days at a time and then all of a
sudden the heavens open up and you've got an hour of opportunity. The
vast majority of people will never actually "see" the mountain. After
10 months, I've only seen it a handful of times and my drive up was a
bust.

The one key thing that I've learned is that you photograph
everything--regardless. The first week of living here, it rained every
day and I never actually saw the mountains. Then one morning, I looked
out the window and almost passed out from the view. Minutes later,
everything changed. Every time I look out the window the scenery
changes. One day, there was this cloud laying in one of the valleys
way up a mountainside. Not knowing if it was "normal" or not, I
photographed it. 10 months later, I haven't seen that ever repeated.

During the drive up, there were several scenes that I would have liked
to have explored in greater detail. But not only were there no
shoulders to pull off on, but the "ideal" time for the picture would
have been in the evening or morning hours--not two in the afternoon.

That smoke was really bad. We couldn't see much from Bozeman to Prince
George. Visibility at Kamloops was down to almost nothing. It was like
driving in a fog downwind from a foundry. I'm told that the lakes
around Kelowna are really pretty. I'll take their word for it. We had
to detour a bit because the fire was crossing Hwy 97, northwest of
Kamloops.

As to giving the OMs and Zuikos a workout, that's a given. In fact,
there is a certain 21/3.5 and 35/2 that have been experiencing
significant photon-wear.
