Don't think it would be wise for the news helicopters to fly into that dust.

I came out of a movie theatre just after the wind had stopped. You couldn't see 
more than 60 metres. Hung around in the lobby with others who didn't want to 
risk driving in that visibility. It was an hour before the visibility improved. 

BTW: the movie I saw was "A Quiet Place", an excellent scifi suspense thriller.
