I’ve just received this link to the Airprox magazine, published by the UK

I’m showing you this because it has a very important article on vision in 
flight, discussing your high acuity vision (and how narrow it is) and how you 
must use that vision to see other aircraft.  I teach this at the Centre of 
Aviation Medicine (which is for military aircrew) so it pleases me greatly that 
it’s out in the GA world as well.  Of particular note is the principle of 
saccadic vision: your high acuity vision doesn’t work properly when you sweep 
your eyes around a scene and there will be gaps in what you see.  This of 
course important for lookout when flying, but is of equal significance when 
driving and using junctions.

I’ve just sent it to one of my nephews in the hope that he’ll take note for 
when he’s flying (GA).
