A seconded national expert (SNE) is an employee on loan from a Member State.
So, in this case, Andrew is an employee of the UK Intellectual Property Office
in Cardiff but he is working with us for a period of 2-4 years (initially 2,
extended if both we and the sending office agree). The advantage for him is to
experience working for an EU agency and live in a place with nicer climate, and
for us to get a highly qualified colleague with a different perspective. At any
given time, we have around 50 SNEs working with us (out of around 900
employees).
