Hi Philippe,
Based on your phonetic examples, I'd say you're likely to hear it
pronounced either way in American English. I know I have heard it both
ways, having lived in various regions of the US. I do not know if there's a
regional "preference". My personal pronunciation is the first ( /ɑʒ/ ).
