I live in a city with a large Hispanic population, and eat in their restaurants
frequently. If I ordered a TAck-oh or a TAY-ko, they would at a minimum correct
me. Some might spit in it. It is, by our Mexican immigrants, invariably call it
TOCK-oh. And I don't know how to type it our, but ACK-wa couldn't be more
wrong. Ill try it AHG-wa with a soft G. Tell the Canadian we don't tell them
how to drink beer, don't tell us how to pronounce names of Hispanic foods.
I don't know where some of these pronunciations come from.
