Might you have been slogging around in the mud too long, so a naturally clean

converted by ACR, primarily, DxO, and a couple of others. DxO defaults look
different than ACR, but much the same

I'm processing the images in the latest/greatest version of Lightroom Classic.

And, since I'm using ACR, we use the same Raw conversion engine.

I definitely see the effect and I didn't put it there. I'll show an
image tomorrow that perfectly illustrates it.

I'm interested. I've only processed a handful of images from the GX85, but over 400 from the GX9. I find it hard to imagine they would have backed off whatever you are seeing with the next model.

Hmmm. I just opened a Panny GX85 file in LR Develop module for the first time. Sharpening, Amount 40, Radius 1.0, Detail 25. NR, Luminance 0, Color 25, 50, 50. Might ACR be tricking you?

With every new camera, I have to turn USM and NR to zero and save a new default profile for that camera, or I get Adobe's idea of what its files need. In PS, it's possible to set Sharpening to "Preview Only", so the actual converted file presented for editing is not affected. I don't see that option in LR,

There's a huge difference @ 100% between Adobe's default and no messing with
the image when converting it.

Just thinking out loud.
