Perhaps the quest for higher and higher ISO values led to the death of both CCD and Kodak.

I still admire the rich colors captured by early Kodak CCD sensors.  The
Olympus E-1 and Leica Elmarit-R 60mm Macro captured this Pansy from last
season braving the freezing temperatures of this February.
