This is a good example of a photograph that works well either way. I
think the shopkeeper photograph would too.

Generally speaking, whichever photograph I look at first is going to
be the one the other is compared to. So, if I view the B&W one first,
the color version will be jarring. But in this case, I like both
versions and wouldn't be able to choose a favorite.
