Bringing this back around to the original topic...

The tidal range at that location is normally over 30 feet. Just a
couple minutes after that photo, the waters reversed with a vengeance
and I got to finally photograph the tidal bore (bore tide). I'd
estimate the wave I photographed to be about three or four feet high
as it barrelled down through Turnagain Arm. In seconds the water rose
a foot and then another foot right away. I didn't stay down at the
water's edge too long. The water rises really quick for the first few
minutes until the flats are covered. At that point the rate of height
gain is greatly slowed as the wet surface area is increased at least
20 fold.

As the tidal bore continues down Turnagain Arm, it can get pretty big
and instead of a wave, it forms more of a moving wall of water that
sweeps away anything in its way. During the winter, giant blocks of
ice form which are the size of houses. While the bore usually isn't
deep enough to dislodge them, by the time we're half-way to high tide,
they are moving around like crazy. It's fascinating to watch.

The location of the photograph is between Hope and Sunrise, just east
of Windy Point. Right at mile post 13.

Honestly, it's really hard to find anything to photograph around here.
It's just so boring. I think I'll take up knitting.
