Gary, it seems to me, if you open the aperture in long time "auto" mode.  The
OTF will just shorten the exposure (speed) by that # of stops.  To adjust for
reciprocity failure in "auto."  One must make adjustments with the
compensation dial (changing asa).  While in "manual" mode, yes, you are
correct.

PS;  Red, we ran some post a couple of months ago on film reflectance of
Velvia and how it fools the OTF reading at slower speeds of 1/15 sec and
slower.  You may want to check the archives.  Some interesting info came out
here.

 The most correct way is to note the time, check the reciprocity table for the
 film you are using and then open the aperture to get the additional exposure.
 Adding time is just creating a problem in having to again adjust for
 reciprocity.
