I tried one over a year or two ago and found that it was contrasty enough
and quite sharp wide open, but it didn't resolve feather details on my
"test" swans.  I would also recommend that you have either a Beatie screen
or a 2-x series screen as it is almost impossible to focus with the
standard 1-x series screens.  The ATX 150-500 is one very big and heavy
lens too.  It was way too big to fit in my bags and I was a bit leary about
hauling it around the world with me on my business trips.

That all said, over the past year my photography has transitioned a bit and
the ATX150-500 would have been a wonderful addition to my equipment list.
For doing sports work, it is flexible and fast to use.  Its sharpness is
sufficient for sports and since it can be shot wide-open is fast enough
when using higher speed films.
