David, if all else fails, try to find a Hoya multi
hood. It has three positions approximating 35mm, 50mm
and 85mm. You could use it at the 50 position no
doubt. It's kinda neat. If you zoom out to 35mm, watch
the lens element go forward almost to the edge of the
factory hood.
