I had a 400 that, sigh, was stolen. It produced superb images. I saw a
magazine article on telephotos with ED glass and it was prominently
featured. The text indicated that although Olympus did label the lens as
such, it was definitely a modern lens with ED glass.

The OM System Lens Handbook indicates that the 600 is constructed of "new
varieties of optical glass".
