If the split-image rangefinder doesn't align at "infinity" on the lens,
when the lens is pointed at something very distant, what's wrong?
If this only occurs with two lenses (and no others), it can't be the
camera body. It has to be the lens.
Longer lenses are often designed to focus slightly "beyond" infinity.
This allows for slight variations in focal length caused by production
tolerances or changes in temperature.
If this is the case, turning the lens slightly closer than infinity
should bring the rangefinder into focus. Does it?
There's a more-important point to keep in mind. If the focusing screen
and the film plane are "conjugate" -- that is, they are exactly the same
distance from the lens flange -- then what you see in the viewfinder
(focus-wise) is what you'll get on the film. It doesn't matter whether
the lens barrel shows the "correct" distance or not.
