If the batteries are fresh when you start out, I wouldn't worry too much
unless the temperature while you're shooting gets into the 30s and below.
In that case if you're out hiking, what I do is put the camera strap around
my neck and have the bottom of the camera body rest against my chest, inside
my jacket and sweater. Body heat will keep the batteries longer. Of
course, an extra set of batteries in a warm pocket is essential insurance.
Be sure to bring the gear (at least the bodies) inside at night. A 2S will
probably kill it's batteries if it sits in the car overnight and the temp is
below freezing. Lastly, if you've got a -1 or a -3 you should bring it
along as added insurance.
Have a reat time, I'm jealous.

PS - Wait a minute, I just reread your post. A 2S to meter with and a -4 to
expose? Hmmm. Not sure of the efficiency of this! I'd get used to the -4
now and leave the 2S behind. If u need to listen to something sexy, call a
900 number when you get back to the room! :>) Seriously, the meter in
the -4 is 8 times more capable that that in the 2S. Aim the center circle
at something and press spot. That's same as aiming 2S, except the -4 will
hold the reading for you. Want another? Point and press spot again. That'll
give you both spots and additionally, their average, which, if you've chosen
your spots well, will be a great exposure for the scene. The dancing
diamond provides a real time reading, just as the 2S does. I'm fond of my
2S in that special way too, but she tolerates the cold far less than any of
the other Oly-gals.
