[OM] Toys

I've been wandering around Manhattan with a newly-purchased 100/2.8, and have to say that I like it quite a lot. I think I'm still jonesing for an 85/2, but the 100 is very very nice for the urban juxtaposition stuff I wish I could get right -- it frames very tightly and lets me lose the usual distracting foregrounds of cartops and mailboxes etc. It also bids fair to be a great portrait lens. (See
if I still think that when the first couple rolls come back.)

Also just blew a roll on the OM-1 back from CLA at Camtech. Golly. It's going to take a while to go back to basics and forget the illusory extra control that the spotmeter in the 2s gives me, but I love the feel of this camera! It's in perfect running order now, the film advance is a kinesthetic joy, and the discreet "k'thik" of the shutter is so much cleaner than the 2s sound -- it's
hard to describe, but just very sweet. Thanks, John!

(next on my to-get-fixed list: the aperture ring from hell on a 24/2.8. Only
problem is the lens is one of my favorites, so the idea of sending it away for any length of time...)

<end blather>
