This depends on whether the lenses are SC or MC. If your 1.4 is SC but
your 1.8 is MC, then I would expect you to find the 1.8 to have better
resolution at f-stops up to f/5.6. If the 1.4 is MC, however, it should
be a brilliant performer at all settings and its wider aperture would
be better for focusing and taking hand-held shots in low light. Apart
from that, the 1.8 is a smaller and lighter lens and, for its price, is
an extraordinarily good buy IMHO.
