Adobe has followed Microsoft's strategy in creating the impression in consumers that they *need* a particular product and nothing else will do. Frankly, nobody *needs* Photoshop except graphic designers and folks doing their own prepress work.

Same applies to my software, Corel Photo-Paint. It does everything Photoshop does except extort money from suckers' pockets. I'm glad to have P-P since I expect to do some of my own prepress work. And I'm especially glad to have received it as a gift, 'cause there's no way I was gonna buy Photoshop.

But for many of us just wanting tools to tweak photos for online/onscreen viewing, there are many simpler, less expensive programs available. I still use PhotoDeluxe and a Ulead Systems program for quick prepping of images for online viewing.
