[OM] Removing battery corrosion

Subject: [OM] Removing battery corrosion

Somebody screwed up and stored a couple of 6V Power Pack 2s with the
batteries still inside. They got shoved to the back of the cabinet and
were out of sight and out of mind for years. When rediscovered, it seems
one of them had acquired a moderate amount of battery poop stuck to the
bottom where one of the bunnies let go. Obviously, somebody doesn?t use
these much, just once a decade or so to power the modeling lights on the
T-28 macro twin flash, but I -- I mean somebody, of course -- wants to
remove this deposit of greenish-white, crusty crud.

Which leads to this question: Is there some magic potion, like a first
cousin to naval jelly or paint remover, or some homemade concoction, like
vinegar and baking soda, that?ll dissolve this goop, or is it time to get
out chisels, wire brushes and the Dremel?
