Thanks, John.  Yeah, while the mirror's stuck "up", I can "advance" over and 
over, watching the pattern come across and retreat as the wind lever 
approaches full rotation.  Could it be that it's the shutter release that is 
sticking "open", thus not allowing the mirror magnets to release the mirror?  
The shutter release button springs freely up and down after I've pressed it 
and the mirror hangs up.

I just tried this again, and this time, when I opened the battery compartment 
and removed the batteries, mirror stayed up.

It just occurred to me to take it in to Phototronics here in Seattle to see 
if they might be able to figure it out.  Have to go up to that neighborhood 
next week to pick up 6 rolls of prints & slides (trying a pro lab for the 
first time), so will take it in.  If they're not successful or don't want to 
touch it, I'll send it to you.

I can see some of the reasons why you mentioned it is your favorite OM body.  
I sure like the shutter speed ring compared with the one on the OM-2S.  Was 
hard to put the thing down and go to work yesterday!
