I leave my scanners off as well. The flatbed Microtek E3 is on a WFWG
machine which loads the SCSI on boot and I just turn the scanner off and

on when I use it without rebooting or doing anything else. Now the photo

scanner on a W98 box does not detect the SCSI card unless the scanner is

on at boot so I have to reboot or otherwise fart around to get it
detected when I want to use it. And they call this progress?
