I don't think that was Barnum either, although it, like the one I
used, may have been erroneously attributed to him over the years.
There's nothing like fame and being dead to make one more
quotable.
The original of this one, a quick exercise of Google indicates,
is: "No one in this world, so far as I know, has ever lost money
by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the
plain people." And it was written by H.L. Mencken in the
Chicago Tribune on Sept. 19, 1926.
Please don't make me have to look up anything else. :-)
