OM-1 Meter switch change to a sliding brush switch around 1,300,xxx Below
that number a spring contact switch, covered with a plastic plate was used.
The newer type may clean up by turning on and off. The oldest style, though
protected from dirt gets dirty anyway. Switch cover has to be taken off and
the contacts cleaned.
