I'm generally more interested in doing what I'm doing than making the
tools to do it. Even when I'm programming, creating a tool for others,
I'm using tools to do the job, and I just want them to make it easy for
me to accomplish my goal. While possibly interesting as an intellectual
pursuit of its own, learning all the ins and outs of doing complex
things in PS is not the same as manipulating an image to create a
desided result. I'm currently more interested in working with the image
than working with the product. So I really appreciate solutions already
worked out at reasonable price.

And that's a key feature of Fred's products, reasonable price.
IntelliSharpen is $15 and Stair Interpolation is $20 and they can be
used on images immediately upon purchase. Kelby's books list for $40 and
are $28 on Amaz*n and I would have to wait for the book, read it, learn
to use the techniques, etc. Nothing wrong with that approach, just not
ideal for everyone.
