For dance recitals, I can get by with ASA 400 Provia if I use a 50mm f-1.2
lens. If you're unsure of the lighting, ASA 800 print film will give you
quite a bit of latitude. Dance lighting ranges from very bright to very
dark. Concert lighting is usually barely adequate on the performers faces
with bright spots in the background to make metering difficult. For dancing,
I usually pick a shutter speed I want and take what I can get on the
lighting. If you watch for action peaks, so you don't have to stop quick
movements, concerts can be shot at slow shutter speeds. Have fun. /jmac

I am going to shoot a concert soon how fast would you go??
is 400 fast enough? or would you go 800? or more?
not positive on the lighting conditions, but I'm sure there will be
some low light situations.
Thanx
