Here's a note I got from another tech who sent a 'broken down under
normal use' Canon to Canon for service.

ass,y because they do not sell individual parts. Parts on backorder for
3 months with no ETA so I cancelled the parts order and sent the camera
to canon.They returned camera not repaired because their computer hookup
to camera said it had taken 108,000 pictures and the Life of the camera
has expired. Beyond economical repair. I just wanted to vent a little
and share this with you folks. Mike<<<
