So what kind of travel kit would one take to an exotic place such as ...
Isle Royale ... for example...?

Lets see . . . a plate, a cup, a fork, a toothbrush and toilet paper. Oh,
that is the other kit. Perhaps you meant the camera kit.

Hmm, lets take a look at what might be packed into the slightly smallish
Tamrac Extreme Series backpack. What I envision, which is probably different
that what will fit, is the following:

e-1 with battery grip and 6.5 gigs of CF cards
50mm macro DZ
14-54mm DZ
50-200mm DZ
1.4X DZ
25mm extension
Lensbaby 2 (if I have room)

OM 2S
24mm f2.8 (would like to take the Tamron 24-48mm, however it is so much
bigger & heavier)
85mm f2 (could be the Tamron 90mm f2.5 or Zuiko 90mm f2, however both are
heavier)
extension tubes
pinhole body cap (works on either the OM or e-1)
50mm f3.5 (if there is room)

8Banners 6x18 pinhole camera, which will take up a bunch of real estate.
Pentax digital spot meter.

If a bunch of room mysteriously or perhaps miraculously appeared, I'd slip
the Agfa Clack in however that isn't going to happen in this lifetime or with
this back pack.

There will also be a fair amount of film, filters, bubble levels, cable
releases, small flash lights, alcohol and cotton balls and other gadgets & doo
dads stuffed in here and there.

I'm not sure where the tripod is going to go yet, but after sending it thru
as luggage and getting it mauled by the baggage monkeys on a previous trip, I
need to figure out how to pack it more securely. Last time I had to send
the ball head back to Kirk to get two of the knobs replaced.

I'll have a better feel for all of it this afternoon when I've taken
everything off the floor in the den and tried to cram into the backpack.

Now, if I could talk somebody else into carrying it, I'd take the Tamron
400mm f4 and a 2X, but that will have to wait until another trip.

I'll be taking no flash, however may have a small reflector/diffuser.
