Yep.  Adds a certain amount of heft to the E-1, and you can shoot all 
day.  And, like the similar grip for the KonicaMinolta A-1, allows 
comfortable shooting with the camera rotated 90 degrees into the 
vertical orientation (extra set of controls which can be worked 
"normally" whilst in that position).

As I've been trying to explain to a female friend of mine who's hunting 
for her first DSLR, a camera that's *too* lightweight is not a good 
thing.  You need a certain minimum amount of mass to dampen down 
vibration (regardless of source) to handle blur/shake.  She wants a 
camera that's lighter than air.  When she first picked up an E-1, she 
said "Hmmm.  Seems heavy."  I just laughed and told her to go try out 
some of the offerings from Canon and Nikon.

Haven't heard her complain about the E-1's weight since.  (Pixel count, 
that's another story...)
