I'm late here, but will answer anyway.  The 4T and Ti top / bottom 
covers are really titanium. Very light and strong. A plain OM-4 top 
(painted brass) weighs (approx) 2.2 oz., a 3Ti top weighs about 1.6 oz.

N*k$n had a 35mm camera advertised as titanium topped but (afaik) it was 
plated brass (as was a Leica, I think).
