I think it is just a matter of luck (or bad luck), I purchased the L328F in 
1991 and it is still working well. At that time the Olympus film camera and 
Sekonic light meter was carried by the same distributor (Kingstone 
Development Co.) here in Hong Kong, their service was very good.
