Can't argue as to the aesthetics, Chris, but would suggest that it ain't
supposed to fly, so the "if it doesn't look right" rule does not apply.

In its favour is that it enables use to be made of the LCD in any ambient
light conditions, at a significant discount on the Panasonic gizmo, without
detriment to the battery life.  And it isn't a permanent fixture - held on
by magnets.

It might have been enough to tempt me to get the as-new GF-1 I was offered
at a tempting price a couple of months ago, had it been available then. I
can console myself that GF-1s are going to be cheaper now (after GF-2
launch).

It looks a little unwieldy, Piers, although I suppose it would work OK for
video work.  But the funny little Panasonic gizmo is fine for when you can't
use the rear screen.
