I'd never heard of M-discs so decided to check them out

Based on the cheapest price reported per disk ($2.80) and current 4.7GB
capacity the cost per terabyte is close to $600. The capacity will
eventually increase to about 25GB but I think it's playing a losing game
to hard drives for all but the most extreme longevity applications.
