OK, OK, OK...
So, Lightroom 4.x is as fast as a Fleet Enema. It is definitely not as
slothful as previous versions, but my computer is setup for video
production, so it's not exactly like rowing a canoe into a headwind.
Running LR on it means that I can turn the furnace off. It is pretty
snappy, but I've noted that it does practice poor memory hygiene.
As to upgrades, well, sub-version releases are generally free, but did
have to buy FOUR versions so far. Fortunately, they are dirt cheep in
comparison to the CS suites. I just dislike having to pay the Adobe
Tax about every year.
