Pentax made such a lens -- it was the SMC-A 35-105/f3.5, pretty
heavy (620gr) and with 67mm filter. It looked even bigger on the
compact A-series Pentax bodies, and, AFAIK, wasn't a great commercial
success, although I heard rumors that it was actually quite good
(Pentax's record on zooms is rather spotty).

Pentax also made a monstrously big SMC-A 28-135/f4 lens (2 lbs,
77mm filter), which quickly lost out to Tokina's much more compact
and very sharp AT-X 28-135/f4-4.6. Admittedly, both Pentax lenses
qualify as serious babe magnets. :-)

P.S. Larry, I'm intrigued by the #1,2,3 bags. Care to elaborate?
