Hi all,

If anyone of you have a flash meter that can be set to 1 second or lower,
you can measure you camera's shutter speed down to 1/2 sec. I have been
using my Sekonic L-328 to measure every camera I bought. The accuracy is up
to +/- 0.1 stop.

The method is very simple:

1. Place your camera (without lens and back) between a touch light and a
flash meter (equip with reflect light measure accessory). It is best if
your touch light can focus.

2. Set the meter to 1/15 sec. set your camera to 1/8 sec. or lower. Trigger
the shutter and write down the reading. You are now obtained a standard
reading for 1/15 sec.

3. Then you can now start to measure your camera's shutter from 1/30 to the
top speed. With every step increase of shutter, the meter should read one
stop lower.

4. For lower shutter speed, set your flash meter to 1 sec. you can now
measure the shutter from 1/2 sec to 1/15 sec.

You can also shift you camera from left to right to check the shutter
linearity at top speed. You may get 0.1 to 0.3 stop different between left
and right. For more than that, your camera may need some adjustment.

Remark: you should use Ni-Cd or similar battery to operate the touch. It
will make the light more consistent during the whole measurement. Between
each test, ensure the touch and flash meter does not have the slightest
movement.

If anyone still have question, please email me.
