<<Currently NASA is doing some work with local researchers on correlating
weather patterns with declines in amphibian populations here - very
interesting (although the favoured theory here is still introduced
pathogens).>>

Top suspected pathogens in the current speculation on amphibian decline in
North and Central America are chytrid fungi--unusual because fungi in this
aquatic group are usually not considered to be pathogenic. Could be the
chytrids are part of the "normal flora" of the scene (not introduced) and only
become pathogenic when the frogs are compromised by other environmental
factors. This would be similar to normal flora on the human body becoming
pathogenic when the person is immunocompromised.

OM content: I know no instance where chytrids were found to be the fungi
growing on neglected Zuiko lenses.
