I read the OM-4 manual before my first posting . . . Giles is correct, it
does not state where the "0" position is (I looked for that specifically) .
. . just how to adjust it until the focus screen is sharp. The diopter
range was found in the specs in the back of the manual.

I pointed mine, without lens, at a brightly lit, pale single-colored wall
(no, not single coated, single colored), and adjusted. Pointing at an
overhead light didn't work very well. You should find one position of the
knob in which the microprisms and the shutter speed display at the bottom
seem sharper than the others. As stated before, did this a few times
before I found the one best position. (Someone also monkeyed around with
the diopter knob once and had to go through it again.)

If you want to wear your glasses when you use the OM-4, do this with your
glasses on. I push mine up and out of the way with the top of the prism
housing, or with my hand, just before looking through the viewfinder.
