The Tamron SP lenses are generally regarded as some of the best after-market
lenses, and have the added flexibility of interchangeable mounts. I've had
the 35-80 f2.8-3.8 lens for years, and it produces excellent images. I
consistently get (unsolicited) positive comments on clinical photographs that
I take with this lens. (Of course the OTF flash feature of my OM-2S helps,
too. :-) ) At the time it was current, this lens was reviewed in one
publication as being on par with the Micro Nikkors for macro-range images.
Be sure to get a mount that has screws properly placed so as not to damage
the lens-sensing pin on OM-4s (identified as "Japan" "OL" on the lens mount),
or fill over the offending screw if you get one of the others.
HTH,
Greg
