I read a tip by a professional garden photographer - he uses fine dark green
nylon thread (fishing line?) to join plants together to dampen the movement.
On a dull day you can use electronic flash to freeze movement at fairly
close range.
For individual blooms, I have a Polysales Flower Holder from the '70s and
which has a sliding, swivelling arm that emerges from beneath the camera
with a small crocodile clip at the other end and this can be used to hold
down the movement.
Otherwise you just have to wait for the odd moments that the wind drops with
your cable release at the ready, and hope that the plant comes to rest
within your focus zone.
