Well, since my off-hand, joking comment started this thread, I'll weigh in.
While I did like the two benches I shot (with a camera - just to clear
things up), I don't have a bench fetish nor do I search them out.
My primary interests are:
- Sports photography, particularly with my kids in it
- Abstracts
- Macro shots
- Landscapes
Now, by abstracts, I mean an interesting and perhaps unusual view of the
'normal'. Usually it's a part of something (window of the Alamo, Bench,
Part of a railing, Parking meter).
Macro shots are new to me, with the addition of the 90/2. My first flower
shots turned out nicely and the macro shots of the OM equipment were fun. I
too am a geek, so my next target may be the various extra pieces of computer
equipment laying around my house (remember the old adage about leftover
parts when you put something back together---that explains all the extra
cards and drives laying around).
If it stays cool enough, I might do a neighborhood walk today in search of
flower subjects and other interesting pictures opportunities. I can't this
morning and the afternoons have just been too hot (95+, very humid). Can't
wait until it gets hot in August.
My plan on my next walkabout (can I borrow the term?) is to take two bodies
and two lenses, the 90/2 and the 35-80 (which arrived yesterday). My first
observations of the 35-80 is that it is bright, but big and heavy. It is
even bigger and heavier than the 35-105. It also has the coolest notched
sunshade I have ever seen. I like it, but expect that the 35-70/3.5-4.5
will still get a lot of use, unless there is low-light. The 35-80 will be
perfect in basketball season as I need some speed in the gym, but none of my
zooms was fast enough, so I'd been using the 85/2. It worked well, but I
couldn't frame the shots as well.
