Well, John, as I remember it, the river caught fire in 1969.  In my book,
that's over 30 years ago and a lot of things have changed in Cleveland as
well as the rest of the world in that time.

Cleveland went from being a bit of "pit" town to a very nice one in that
period of time.  Not only has the river been cleaned up, so has Lake Erie
and much of downtown Cleveland has been revitalized.   Folks that had to go
to Cleveland in the 70's and 80's would hardly recognize it today. Actually,

Flats area is quite a popular spot with a lot of nighttime activity.  It is
usually very crowded during weekends and evenings.  Last time I checked,
there were about 14 gazillion restaurants in the Flats.
