I'm far from expert in flash photograghy, however I'll throw in my
$0.02
worth. On page 22 of my T32 manual it states when using multiple flashes
on
the OM-4Ti, do not mix brands of flash units. You didn't state which OM
body
you were using but perhaps your T32 and Vivitar don't speak the same
dialect.

My T32 manual says not to mix different "types" of flash with an
illustration showing a multi-T32 arrangement attached to the hot shoe
and another flash attached at the PC connector. The Vivitar 550 FD is
an Olympus TTL compatible flash. Frankly, I didn't know how it would
behave in conjunction with the T32 either but both flashes fired OK,
sent the appropriate signal back to the viewfinder and did not fry the
electronics of my OM-2sp.

Based upon John Lind's recent comments: "...What causes the harsh
redness is the strobe's light being strong enough to penetrate below the
surface of the skin and reflect off the blood in the capillaries...",
maybe the problem is that both flashes DID fire.
