Why not? Keep in mind that our OM's were designed in a region of the world
where long noses and well-developed eyebrows are not so common. Could it be
that eyecups were added to the OM-system just because users in other regions of
the world wanted a correction to accomodate the cameras for their different
facial profile?

I have a rather flat face (compared to Neanderthals), use glasses with a
diopter of -5 (for a Neanderthal that eyesight must have meant certain death),
and therefore feel most comfortable without an eyecup. I have one, and I agree
that it adds a certain look to the camera, but it is not of any use for me. I
bought it cheap from a box of parts because I was afraid of scratching my
glasses. But I don't like the limitation in the field of view that the eyecup 1
produces in my case. I can't get it close enough to my eyes. Some time ago it
was suggested here that you could cut some rubber away, but no - I better
continue this way.

And what about stray light? I have never observed difficulties with that. I
either don't shoot in bright sunlight or if I do so, I use my hand to shade the
camera for the reading. OTF exposure reading will do the rest.

Just my humble experience.

Best regards
