A question related to this off-topic subject, plus other area - that of
N*kon AF system.

My Company, in its wisdom, has decided to join the digital revolution in a
BIG way. Our professional photographer, of 20 years standing, is retiring
this month and the Company have decided that they do not need to replace him
because "by and selling off all the "standard" equipment, they can issue
each department with a digital camera and they can use them in conjunction
with the IT equipment to produce the necessary PR images etc."! All they
seem to intend keeping are the Nikon D1 equipment and the Nikon film scanner
(which will presumably be redundant, as they won't have any film to scan!)

Anyway, having spent loads of money on my OM equipment, none-the-less I am
tempted to bid (sealed bids, winner takes all on Friday) for some of the
equipment. In particular I am interested in:

Lot 1:
Nikon F90x, MB10 base and case
MF26 command back
28-70mm AF-D lens
SB26 flash
(Tempted to offer $1000 - is it worth this??)

Lot 4:
Nikkor 24mm AF lens
(Photograper says this was one of his favourites and suggests about $150??)

Lot 5:
Nikkor 180mm AF-ED lens
(Bought in for one specific job and never used since; it is absolutely MINT.
Worth a bid? Again he suggests about $150.)

Lot 9:
My favourite, but my most worrying regarding how much to bid!
ETRSi body (Ex+)
ETRS body (Ex+)
2 speedgrips with flash attachment broken on both
220 back
2 x 120 backs
35mm back
Polaroid back * adaptor
AEII finder
Waist-level finder
14, 28 & 42 extension tubes
Metz MB60-CT4 flash with TTL adaptor
All instruction manuals for the above
(Apparently very littlw interest; he suggests that an offer of $1500 would
more than suffice.)

Should I follow my Zuikoholic instincts and get some bids in, around the
"suggested" prices, and worry about how to pay later? (Back to the
cardboard box under the bridge :-)), or should I pass-up this once in a
lifetime opportunity? My instints are to bid for these items and, if
successful, provide future comparison to my OM equipment - so as to remain
on-topic of course!

Really, there are no other advantages other than the smaller rolls of film,
and
bulkier cameras may make you spend more time composing a shot.
