Yes. Also note you can use any shutter speed.

Alternatively you can use the flashmatic system. Set the flash to manual,
set he GN scale on the camera to 20, set the aperture scale to the flash
symbol. The camera will now adjust the aperture according to distance and
will be not be influenced by variations in the background or in the
reflection of the subject. IOW the exposure is very precise but w/o DOF
control.
