On the subject of cleaning fluids - I am led to believe that many forms of
alcohol are harmful to lens coatings. I think the only type recommended are
the denatured type. The isopropyl (or other) used in sterile medical wipes
may or may not be safe on lens coatings - and the material used might be
likewise OK - or bad news.
My confidence in the Zeiss wipes is based on their effectiveness - but also
the fact that I doubt Zeiss would have even considered marketing a cleaning
patch with fluid that was anything other than safe for most if not all lens
coatings. That within the limitations of what is accepted as normal cleaning
frequency for the average user of course. Wipe any coated lens often enough
and I am sure the coating will get blemished or otherwise sooner or later.

I was wondering about that. I have thousands of the things (every time home
health comes they seem to bring a box). They do seem to be cotton.
Seems like they would be safe, wouldn't they?

If that is what they are, you can buy a large box of alcohol wipes
individually sealed in foil from a medical supply type drug store for
not much money. I think you could probably get a couple hundred for
about $10.
