1mp is only about half the pixel pitch of the current 235kp displays (because it's the square of the linear count). Also, of course, a slightly larger display with slightly higher pitch would do the job, too. I would guess that all the savings in SLR optical viewfinder space and weight would easily allow use of a larger display than that used in diminutive non-SLR prosumer DCs, while still reducing overall body size and weight. 2 years tops. If it's good enough, they might be able to dispense with the image display LCD on the back of the body altogether, for more savings.
